Does your young reader need a cure for cold feet? Would a cuddly canine help? StoryTails to the rescue! Research studies have shown that children whose reading scores lag behind their peers suffer from a fear of reading aloud in the classroom. The StoryTails program pairs a registered dog and handler team with a child to provide one to one reading practice in a safe nurturing environment. StoryTails has been an overwhelming success! There's nothing like puppy dog eyes and a wagging tail to turn FEAR into reading FUN!
StoryTails benefits children in school districts in San Antonio and La Vernia who struggle with reading skills, self esteem and confidence. This is done on a weekly basis with assigned children for the entire school year. Teams also read with children at libraries in San Antonio. Bulverde, New Braunfels, and Kerrville.
Teams who are currently visiting a facility, or have in the past, may also participate in
StoryTails. Training classes are held once a year in August with an
additional class if there is enough interest. Please contact us
if you want to attend a class, request more information, or have one
of our teams come to your school or library.
