Sandra McGowan and Chili Pepper
Sandra McGowan and Chili Pepper

It was a good visit. First to the Nursing Unit and saw about 10 people - staff and residents. Talked for a bit with the two sisters as they really enjoy Pepper. I tried several rooms and saw that people were napping so we went to the first floor to the Alzheimer's unit. There we visited with about 25 people - staff, residents, and visitors. One older man was very happy to see Pepper and talked at length about his family dogs and cats. Another group wanted to see Pepper shake hands, so he did that - for a treat, of course. The floor cat tried to stare Pepper down, but he just looked back and then we nonchalantly continued on our way. Upstairs to the Assisted Living area. This time I took him out for a potty break and then we went into the recreation room and visited with 9 women. They remembered his name and definitely wanted to say hello to him. That was nice and he greeted each one. As we walked around the central garden area we talked with 5 more staff and 4 residents. It is hard to keep track of the actual numbers. Then we headed on back to the Nursing Unit and visited 3-4 more rooms. One woman just exclaimed upon seeing him. She was so excited that she rolled her chair right over to him and gave Pepper a big hug. She was so happy to meet him. We talked a while and she petted him the whole time. It was a very pleasant visit for us both.
